Temporary staffing for Panhandle retail and grocery

Trained associates on your floor for a shift, a week or a season. They are Alto employees: we recruit, screen and pay them, and you direct the work.

Temporary staffing that works the way stores work

A temporary associate is only useful if they can do the job on the first shift. Our founders ran departments in big-box stores, so we prepare associates for the pace and standards of a real sales floor before they arrive: how the front end runs, how to stock and face a shelf, how to work safely in a freezer, and what your customers expect.

Associates placed through Alto are our W-2 employees. We recruit them, check their backgrounds and references, pay them weekly and keep their employment records. You direct the work at your site, the same as you would with your own team, and you tell us straight away if something is not right.

Temporary staffing suits a gap you can see coming, such as a season, a remodel or a long absence, and a gap you cannot, like a sudden resignation. It also works as a trial: if an associate fits, temp-to-hire lets you bring them onto your own payroll.

Why businesses use Alto for temporary staffing

  • Ready on the first shift

Associates are prepared for store work before they start, so your managers are not training from scratch.

  • No hiring paperwork for you

We handle recruiting, background checks, onboarding, weekly pay and W-2s for every associate we place.

  • Flexible headcount

Add people for a busy stretch and step back down when it ends, with no long-term commitment required to start.

  • One local contact

Your requests go to our Miramar Beach office, not a national call center, and we can visit your store in person.

  • Store-floor roles covered

Front end, stocking, freezer and cooler, produce, deli, janitorial, and the leads and supervisors who run the shift.

  • A path to permanent hires

When an associate proves themselves, you can hire them directly on terms agreed before they started.

Common questions

What does temporary staffing cost?

You pay an hourly bill rate for the hours associates work, which covers their pay and the employer costs we carry. Rates depend on the role, schedule and location. We send a written quote within one business day.

What if an associate is not a good fit?

Tell us. We talk to you and the associate, and if it still is not working we replace them. You should not have to put up with someone who is not doing the job.

Are associates screened?

Yes. Every associate completes background and reference checks before placement, plus drug screening where the role or your site requires it.

Who employs the associates?

Alto HR does. Associates are Alto employees on our payroll. You direct the day-to-day work at your site, and we handle pay, tax forms and employment paperwork.

What roles can you fill?

Most store-floor roles in retail and grocery: Cashiers and front end, stocking and unloading, freezer and cooler, produce, deli, general merchandise, janitorial, and shift supervisors and leads.

How quickly can you staff a store?

It depends on the roles, the number of people and the location. Tell us your start date and we will give you a realistic plan within one business day.
