How we operate

A workforce operating model, not a stack of résumés.

Agencies send people. We run the whole cycle with you: plan the season, recruit, prepare, deploy, pay and keep the people who make your business work.

  1. Plan

We map your roles, peak weeks and budget with you, season by season.

  2. Recruit

Local talent first, plus J-1 and H-2B programs where your roles fit.

  3. Prepare

Alto Ready training before the first shift, with your store standards added.

  4. Deploy

Teams start ready, with on-site leads for larger sites.

  5. Pay and retain

Weekly pay, compliance records and regular check-ins that keep good people.

International

J-1 for retail and grocery, done properly.

Bringing international students into your stores takes the right sponsor, eligible roles, fair pay, housing and daily support. We bring all of it, working alongside the sponsors who select every participant.

Check if your stores qualify

Our sponsor network

We work with four sponsors designated by the U.S. Department of State, and match your stores to the one that fits your roles, your season and your locations.

Option one

Alto hosts the participants

Where our structure meets program requirements, participants are Alto employees. We employ and pay them, supervise them full time on site and control the worksite.

  • Alto employs and pays participants
  • Full-time Alto supervision on site
  • Alto controls the worksite

Option two

You host, we run the program

Your company becomes the host employer. We manage everything around it with your sponsor. Participant orientation is run by the sponsor.

  • Readiness and role eligibility review
  • Sponsor matching and paperwork
  • Housing, transportation and support

Sponsors screen and select every participant. Participants work in eligible seasonal roles only: no warehouse or distribution work, no jobs worked mostly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and no jobs that need a driver’s license. Participants are never contractors, and they never pay Alto a fee.

Client story

A produce department, fully staffed in under a week

A Niceville grocery store was running short in produce, with call-outs leaving shifts uncovered. Alto HR placed associates who were trained before their first shift.

“Alto HR turned around our produce department staffing in under a week. The associates showed up trained, motivated, and ready to go. We haven’t had a call-out crisis since.”
