What a master vendor program is

Many employers work with several staffing agencies at once, each with its own contract, rates, invoices and standards. In a master vendor program, every order comes to Alto first, and our own associates fill it wherever we can.

When a role is outside our reach, such as a specialist skill or a sudden surge, we bring in a vetted partner agency. The partner works under our contract terms and standards, and its hours are billed through us, so you still deal with one supplier.

When a master vendor program fits

  • You need steady coverage across many shifts and locations
  • Several agencies fill the same kinds of roles for you today
  • You want fewer contracts, invoices and supplier reviews
  • You need one view of hours and spend across your sites

How we set up your program

  1. Step 1: Define your needs

Your locations, roles, current agencies, rates and volumes.

  2. Step 2: Design the program

Contract terms, screening, pay rates and reporting, agreed with you and applied to every partner.

  3. Step 3: Launch

Orders start coming to Alto. We fill first and route the rest to partners.

  4. Step 4: Review and grow

Regular reviews of coverage, hours and spend, and more locations when you are ready.

Why one supplier works better

  • One contract, one invoice

One agreement, one account manager and one bill for every location and supplier.

  • One standard

Every supplier meets the same screening, E-Verify, insurance and onboarding requirements.

  • Consistent pay rates

Pay set by role and location, so similar jobs pay the same whoever fills them.

  • One view of your workforce

Reporting on orders, hours and spend across your locations and suppliers.

Common questions

What is a master vendor program?

An arrangement in which one staffing company, here Alto HR, is your primary supplier. Alto fills orders first and manages any other agencies needed as partners, under one contract and one invoice.

How is a master vendor different from a managed service provider (MSP)?

A managed service provider manages your staffing suppliers but usually does not supply workers itself. As a master vendor, Alto supplies associates directly and manages partner agencies only for the roles it does not fill.

Who employs the workers?

Alto HR employs the associates we place. A partner agency employs the workers it places and works under Alto’s contract terms and standards.

Can we keep the agencies we use today?

Yes. Agencies you already use can join the program as partners, as long as they meet the program’s screening, insurance and compliance requirements.

How does billing work?

You receive one invoice from Alto for all hours worked by Alto associates and partner workers. Alto pays the partner agencies.

Can we start with a few locations?

Yes. Many programs start with a few sites and add more once the process is working. We agree the launch plan with you before anything changes.

How long does it take to set up?

It depends on how many locations, roles and agencies are involved. We agree a timeline with you during the design step, and current orders keep running while the program is set up.
