What does a stocker and unloader do?
A stocker, sometimes called a merchandise or stocking associate, unloads delivery trucks, moves product through the backroom and fills shelves to the store’s planogram. It is active, physical work with clear goals for each shift.
Order pickers pull products for online orders. Experienced stockers can move into stocking supervisor roles.
Duties and responsibilities
- Unload trucks and sort product onto pallets
- Stock shelves to the store’s planogram and standards
- Use pallet jacks, hand trucks and stock carts
- Keep the backroom clean and organized
- Meet daily unloading and stocking goals
Skills and requirements
- Able to lift 50 pounds or more and keep moving for a full shift
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Comfortable in a fast-paced team
- Warehouse or stocking experience helps
Schedule and shifts
- Early morning shifts are common
- Overnight shifts at some stores
